The official X (formerly Twitter) account for Square Enix’s G Fantasy magazine has announced that the Toilet-Bound Hanako-kun manga will go on a 1-issue break. The break is due to the author, Iro Aida, experiencing a sudden illness. Instead of a new chapter on July 18, the new issue of G Fantasy will instead reprint an older issue. The Toilet-Bound Hanako-kun manga will return on August 18.
On July 6, 2025, the second half of Toilet-Bound Hanako-kun Season 2 of the anime started airing. The anime retains the cast from the second season with the addition of Jun Fukuyama, who will star as Shinigami-sama. The first season of the anime was released in March 2020, while the second season began in January 2025. Crunchyroll streams both seasons of the anime.
Iro Aida launched the ongoing manga in the G-Fantasy magazine in 2014 and released the spinoff manga in February 2018, and ended it with the 25th chapter in October 2021. Square Enix published one compiled book volume for the manga in August 2019. Yen Press published the volume in English in April 2021. Further, Yen Press continues to release the manga and subsequent volumes at several local and online retailers.
