NetEase has officially revealed season 3 of Marvel Rivals, titled The Abyss Awakens, which will release on July 11. The new season will add Jean Grey and Blade as playable characters alongside a brand-new battle pass and more new additions.
Jean Grey will release first, alongside a new map called Celestial Husk, and a new battle pass featuring new cosmetics. As the story of this chapter focuses on Jean Grey and the Phoenix Force fighting against a union between Hela and Knull, the God of the Symbiotes, the latest cosmetics reflect that balance. There will be Venomized costumes for Spider-Man, Squirrel Girl, Groot, Rocket Raccoon, and Jeff the Land Shark, and Phoenix Force skins for Wolverine, Emma Frost, Namor, Adam Warlock, and Black Panther. Blade will launch in August.

Recently, Marvel Rivals Season 2, titled “Hellfire Gala,” released on April 11. The season added Emma Frost and Ultron, as well as new maps based on Krakoa from the comics. Ultron released after the start of Season 2, in late May 2025. According to a Dev Vision video that released in April 2025, NetEase will start releasing characters once a month. Blade is the first example of this, as he will release a month after season 3 starts on July 11. Seasons will also now last for two months instead of three.
Marvel Rivals is available now on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. It may release later on the Nintendo Switch 2.
