2v2 Fighting Game Saturday AM: Battle Manga Announced by Son Studios and Saturday AM

Another tag team fighting game has hit the market!

    Published:

Indie developer Son Studios and manga publisher Saturday AM have announced a new collaborative project: Saturday AM: Battle Manga. This project is a 2.5D tag team fighting game that brings together characters from several of Saturday AM’s original manga series.

The game will feature a 2v2 tag battle format and include fighters from titles such as Apple Black, Clock Striker, Massively Multiplayer World of Ghosts, Soul Beat, and more. According to the developers, each character will have a distinct playstyle to emphasize mechanical variety and avoid cloned movesets.

Additionally, the developers designed Saturday AM: Battle Manga to be accessible to new players while still offering competitive depth through classic fighting game mechanics. The game will feature motion inputs to assist with this.

Frederick L. Jones, Founder and Publisher of Saturday AM, stated that the game is a natural extension of the brand’s storytelling efforts. “For eleven years, Saturday AM has focused on crafting deep stories with fresh perspectives from a range of nationalities and cultures”, he said. “We’re thrilled to give fans a new way to interact with our characters.”

Jesse Segun-Oside, CEO and Game Director at Son Studios, expressed a long-standing interest in the genre. “The tag fighter space is one I’ve loved since childhood and always dreamed of leading a project in,” he said. “Kicking things off with these characters is the perfect way to bring that vision to life—with impact.”

For those unaware, Son Studios is also developing another fighting game called Netcode Warriors, a new anime-style arena fighter featuring character designers of the Digimon franchise. The game will feature a story mode, rollback netcode, and multiple other offline and online modes. The game is slated for a release on PC via Steam, but stay tuned for more information.

While platform details for Saturday AM: Battle Manga have yet to be announced, the developers confirmed that all major console and PC platforms are under consideration. For more information on Saturday AM, visit saturday-am.com.
