Final Fantasy XVI Developers Tease Nintendo Switch 2 Port

Could another modern Final Fantasy game come to the Switch 2 soon?

    Published:

In a recent Final Fantasy XIV Letter from the Producer live stream, producer Naoki Yoshida and creative director Kazutoyo Maehiro teased that Final Fantasy XVI could come to the Nintendo Switch 2.

During the discussion, Yoshida mentioned that “Nintendo” is the only console that Final Fantasy XVI is currently unavailable on, likely referring to Nintendo Switch 2. In response, Maehiro simply said that he will “do his best.”

Later this winter, Square Enix will release Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade for the Switch 2. Other titles like the new Final Fantasy Tactics – The Ivalice Chronicles remake will also release on Nintendo Switch 2 this year.

Final Fantasy XVI is available now for PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Steam and Epic Games Store. A Complete Edition is available on all platforms, featuring the Echoes of the Fallen and The Rising Tide DLC. Square Enix recently reduced the cost of the digital Standard Edition on PlayStation 5 to $49.99. This ensures that editions on PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC are the same price.

Lastly, here’s an overview of the game, via Steam:

An epic dark fantasy world where the fate of the land is decided by the mighty Eikons and the Dominants who wield them. This is the tale of Clive Rosfield, a warrior granted the title “First Shield of Rosaria” and sworn to protect his younger brother Joshua, the dominant of the Phoenix. Before long, Clive will be caught up in a great tragedy and swear revenge on the Dark Eikon Ifrit, a mysterious entity that brings calamity in its wake.
