The latest sales charts from Japan for the week of June 9 to 15 confirm that Nintendo Switch 2 has sold over 1 million units in Japan, with exactly 1,101,136 units sold. For perspective, it took the Nintendo Switch 20 weeks to reach that very same milestone of 1.1 million units sold in Japan.
Since its release, the Nintendo Switch 2 has continued to reach major sales milestones. According to Nintendo, Nintendo Switch 2 sales in all regions are approximately twice those of the original Nintendo Switch across both consoles’ first four days on the market. Further, not only is it the fastest-selling Nintendo console globally, but it is the quickest-selling Nintendo hardware in the United States. Specifically, it has already sold 1.1 million units in the U.S.
Recently, based on the latest sales chart from Famitsu, Mario Kart World has become the fastest-selling entry in the franchise after just one week. It has sold 782,566 units since its release on June 5. The sales figures for both Mario Kart World and the Nintendo Switch 2 will continue to grow in the near future.
The Nintendo Switch 2 launched on June 5. It is priced at $449.99. A bundle is available for $499.99 featuring Mario Kart World. Pre-orders for Nintendo Switch 2 at Best Buy, Walmart and Target went live on April 24 and quickly sold out within just a few hours. However, Nintendo and other retailers will periodically replenish stock after launch.
The next major Nintendo Switch 2 game, Donkey Kong Bananza, will release on July 17. It will run at 1080p 60 FPS in handheld mode and support HDR in handheld mode and docked mode.
