According to Variety, Warner Bros. Discovery has announced that Warner Bros. Games has been restructured into four new divisions. These divisions are focused on Harry Potter, Game of Thrones, Mortal Kombat, and the DC universe.
The restructured Warner Bros. Games also applies to the studio heads. Warner Bros Games Montréal studio head Yves Lachance has been promoted to senior vice president, development, and will oversee the development teams working on Harry Potter and the Game of Thrones games. NetherRealm studio head Shaun Himmerick has been promoted to senior vice president, development for the Mortal Kombat and DC games.
Further, Warner Bros. Games New York studio chief Steven Flenory has been promoted to senior vice president, central tech & services, overseeing game and publishing technology, customer service, quality assurance and user research. They will all report to J.B. Perrette, Warner Bros Discovery’s CEO of global streaming and games. Despite the restructure, there have been no layoffs as a result.
The most recent release from WB Games is Game of Thrones: Kingsroad, which we described as “a promising free-to-play open-world action RPG that still needs more work before its potential is fully realized. The game has a fun and satisfying combat system and an interesting story, but Game of Thrones: Kingsroad’s monetization practices and progression-slowing Momentum walls hold back what could be one of 2025’s hidden gems.”
The recent and ongoing season of Fortnite commemorates the upcoming release of Warner Brothers’ new Superman film. The film will release on July 11. James Gunn directs the movie at DC Studios. Additionally, it stars David Corenswet as Clark Kent/Superman, Rachel Brosnahan as Lois Lane, and Nicholas Hoult as Lex Luthor.
