According to the latest sales chart from Famitsu, Mario Kart World has become the fastest-selling entry in the franchise after just one week. It has sold 782,566 units since its release on June 5.
The Switch 2 has sold 947,931 units in Japan and over 3.5 million units worldwide. Not only has Mario Kart World become the fastest-selling Mario Kart game, but the Switch 2 itself has become the fastest-selling gaming console in history after just four days. The sales figures for both Mario Kart World and the Nintendo Switch 2 will continue to grow in the near future.
The Nintendo Switch 2 launched alongside the game on June 5. It is priced at $449.99. A bundle is available for $499.99 featuring Mario Kart World. Pre-orders for Nintendo Switch 2 at Best Buy, Walmart and Target went live on April 24 and quickly sold out within just a few hours. However, Nintendo and other retailers will periodically replenish stock after launch.
Recently, YouTube announced that the company is working with Nintendo to make the YouTube app natively available on Nintendo Switch 2. Currently, the YouTube app from the original Nintendo Switch is not compatible with Nintendo Switch 2, so players will have to wait for the native version to release.
It’s also worth noting that other media apps, including Crunchyroll and Hulu, also don’t appear to work on Nintendo Switch 2. In those cases, Nintendo Switch 2 users will need to wait until Crunchyroll, Hulu, and other companies detail their plans for support on the newly released console.
The next major Nintendo Switch 2 game, Donkey Kong Bananza, will release on July 17. It will run at 1080p 60 FPS in handheld mode and support HDR in handheld mode and docked mode.
