    Published:

Bandai Namco Filmworks has announced a new anime film simply titled ghost, which will release in 2027. Madhouse will produce the film.

Shingo Natsume will direct the film and also write the script. Natsume Ono is in charge of the original character designs and Norifumi Kugai will design the characters for animation. The film will mark Natsume’s first time directing an anime film, as he’s previously worked on series such as One Punch Man and Space Dandy

Bandai Namco Filmworks describes the series as follows:

Everyone has a “ghost” in their hearts. It is a genuine feeling that is there but inexpressible. In this work, the girl Nike opposes the absurdity of the world in order to protect the “starry sky.” This challenging work expresses Nike’s solitude and heroism, and the subtleties of the heart as she interacts with others.

Recently, VIZ Media announced that the company has acquired streaming rights for One Punch Man Season 3, which premieres in October 2025. VIZ Media will stream the One Punch Man Season 3 anime in North America, Latin America, and Oceania.

J.C. STAFF returns to animate One Punch Man Season 3. Further, Chikashi Kubota (FLCL Progressive) is the character designer for the third season alongside Shinjiro Kuroda and Ryōsuke Shirakawa. Tomohiro Suzuki is in charge of series composition, and Makoto Miyazaki is the music composer.

Moreover, Yūsuke Murata and ONE confirmed that their ongoing One Punch Man manga series will go on a two-month hiatus due to “various circumstances.” The manga will return from its hiatus on July 17 in Shueisha’s Tonari no Young Jump web service.
