Epic Games has revealed new details about the performance and features that players can expect in the Nintendo Switch 2 version of Fortnite, including 60 FPS support, higher resolution, mouse controls, and much more.
Fortnite runs at 60 FPS in docked mode at a 2176×1224 resolution and in undocked mode at 900p on Nintendo Switch 2. There are greater view distances and higher-quality textures, shadows, and water rendering, along with clothing physics. The game will feature a full “desktop” renderer, along with high-detail geometry, distance field ambient occlusion in docked mode, shadow casting point lights, and high-quality effects.
The Nintendo Switch 2 version also includes the Replay system, the ability to capture video clips with the Capture button, GameChat support, and mouse controls, which will be supported started June 7 with patch 36.00. Save the World mode is not included, however. Mouse controls may be used with the Joy-Con 2 to play the game and navigate the UI, and it can be enabled by going to the Settings menu and navigating to the Mouse tab. A Swap Movement thumbstick setting will also be available.
Mouse controls will be usable in all Fortnite Battle Royale modes:
- Battle Royale
- Zero Build – Battle Royale
- Team Rumble
- Reload
- Reload – Zero Build
- Fortnite OG
- Fortnite OG Zero Build
Moreover, players who log into Fortnite on Nintendo Switch 2 before March 31, 2026 will receive the Wishing Star Emote for free. It will be available for purchase at a later date, according to the game’s latest blog post.
Lastly, Fortnite is available now for Android, iOS, Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Epic Games Store.
