PlayStation Announces State of Play for June 4

A 40+ minute long event focused on several "great games from across the globe."

PlayStation has announced that it will hold a new 40-minute long State of Play on June 4 at 2 PM PDT/5 PM EDT/11 PM CEST. It will be available to watch on PlayStation’s official YouTube and Twitch accounts.

The event will feature games available exclusively for PlayStation 5 from “creators across the globe,” according to PlayStation Blog. In the past, PlayStation has used the 40-minute format for “Showcases,” whereas State of Play events are approximately 20-25 minutes. It is unknown if this is indicative of a new norm for its flagship showcases or simply a rare exception.

While PlayStation has not yet confirmed what games will be present during the event, there will likely be a new look at Ghost of Yōtei, which will release on October 2, 2025. It’s also possible that Insomniac will reveal the first gameplay reveal for Marvel’s Wolverine, which hasn’t received any updates since it was first announced in 2021. There will also be new reveals for numerous third-party games, if previous Showcases/State of Plays are anything to go by.

The next major game for PlayStation 5, Death Stranding 2: On the Beach, will release on June 26. The game has recently gone gold ahead of its launch on PlayStation 5. Reaching gold status means that development is now complete, and the game is ready for mass production. What’s more, pre-orders for the game’s Collector’s Edition and Digital Deluxe Edition are available now.

Additionally, Kojima Productions announced Death Stranding 2: On The Beach Game Premiere event will be hosted by Geoff Keighley at the Orpheum Theatre in Los Angeles, CA on June 8 at 7:00 p.m. PDT / 10:00 p.m. EDT. The event is the first stop of the Death Stranding World Strand Tour 2, a special world tour event that will head to 12 cities around the world.
