According to job alerts that Ubisoft has now removed, Ubisoft Milan is hiring developers for a “AAA title for the Rayman brand.” Specifically, it is looking for a 3D gameplay animator.
Last year, a report from Insider Gaming stated that a remake of the original Rayman is in development. The team responsible for Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown will reportedly be working on it. According to the article, “It has been estimated that around a dozen developers from the disbanded Prince of Persia team have migrated to work on the Rayman Remake. Elsewhere, other developers have pivoted to work on Beyond Good & Evil 2 and the next Ghost Recon title.”
In October 2024, a Ubisoft spokesperson also officially confirmed that Ubisoft Montpellier and Ubisoft Milan are working on a new Rayman project. Michel Ancel, the creator of Rayman and Beyond Good and Evil who departed the company in 2020, will consult on the game. While the style and gameplay of the new AAA Rayman game is unknown, the recent job alert for a 3D gameplay animator implies that it will take the series’ back to its 3D-platformer roots.
The last console Rayman game, Rayman Legends, released in 2013. Over the years several ports of the game have released on modern consoles. Additionally, Rayman has made several appearances in games such as Mario + Rabbids: Sparks of Hope and TV shows like Captain Laserhawk: A Blood Dragon Remix. Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown, developed by Ubisoft Montpellier, is available now on PC, Nintendo Switch, PlayStation, Xbox, iOS, and Android.
