Tokyo Xtreme Racer Full Release Delayed to Late September 2025

    New features are being developed.

    Published:

Genki has delayed the full release of Tokyo Xtreme Racer to late September 2025, citing that there’s still progress to be made in licensing negotiations and further improving the game’s quality. Originally, the game’s Steam Early Access period was supposed to last roughly four months after the January 23 launch, placing its original release date sometime in May 2025.

Since the game has been delayed, the Tokyo Xtreme Racer developers will have time to implement additional features, including Steam achievements, Steam Record rankings, water and oil temperature, and a Hard difficulty, to name a few. More tweaks and adjustments will be made as well.

Here’s the full message from the producer, via the game’s X (formerly Twitter) account:

    Producer Letter

Thank you for continuing to support Tokyo Xtreme Racer. Today, we would like to notify our fans that we will be extending the early access period and we apologize
to those who have been waiting for the launch of the full game.

There are three main reasons for the delay in release of the full game:

        1. We have revisited the full feature set of the game based on the tremendous amount of feedback we have received.
        2. To spend more time developing and fine tuning the game to meet the expectations of our fans.
        3. Have been able to nearly conclude our discussions with our licensing partners.

First of all, we would like to express our appreciation and excitement for the engagement and feedback we have received during the early access period.

We have been working hard at adding features and tuning the game but still face challenges in delivering an experience that meet fan expectations.

We are near closing of all licensing discussions and are confident that we can implement everything into the full release. With this, we would like to extend the early access period to the end of September of 2025.

Below are a portion of the list of features we plan to implement for the full release of the game.

    Features planned for tuning:
        • AI behavior
        • Polishing UI
        • Re-designing of park and skill tree
        • Game balancing
        • Tuning of rival cars
        • Revival of past rivals
    Planned additional features
        • Steam achievements
        • Steam Record rankings
        • Replay functionality – Addition of Engine Conversion functionality
        • Changing water and oil temperature functionality
        • Hard difficulty mode

Certain features listed above will be added as updates during the early access period.

The entire development team have considered all of the feedback provided and
are doing our best to provide the best racing experience possible.

Please look forward to further updates and the full release of Tokyo Xtreme Racer.

Tokyo Xtreme Racer is available for $29.99 in Steam Early Access, and players who purchase the game during its early access period will receive the full game at no additional cost.
