Arrowhead Game Studios announced Helldivers 2 Galactic Emergency is now live to kick off “the true Illuminate invasion.” The new update brings some notable new features, and the new Masters of Ceremony Warbond will be available on May 15.
In Galactic Emergency, the Illuminate emerge from the Meridian singularity and set a course for Super Earth. New enemies will pose a threat, including the Illuminate’s Stingray jetfighters, the Crescent Overseer, and failed Illuminate experiments known as the Fleshmob, according to PlayStation Blog.
Helldivers 2 players now have access to a new weapon customization feature for primary weapons in Galactic Emergency. Most primary weapons now have levels that are achievable by completing missions, which unlock new attachments obtainable through Requisition. New weapon patterns can be unlocked as well. Players are fully in control of color patterns, magazines, muzzles, under-barrel attachments, and much more.
Moreover, FRV patterns themed after the Viper Commandos, Freedom’s Flame, Chemical Agents, and Truth Enforcers Warbonds will be available on May 15 with the launch of the Masters of Ceremony Warbond. The Warbond is expected to feature new weapons, gear, and cosmetics. The Superstore has also been refreshed with a surplus of items.
At CES 2025, Sony Group Corporation announced a new Helldivers film adaptation is currently in the works at PlayStation Productions and Sony Pictures. Further details about the Helldivers film were not announced.
Helldivers 2 launched on February 8, 2024 for PlayStation 5 and PC via Steam. It released to rave reviews from critics and fans alike, selling 12 million copies within just three months. In such a short period, it has already outpaced God of War: Ragnarok. The cooperative shooter is available now on both PlayStation 5 and PC.
