The Pokémon Company and Niantic announced Pokémon GO players will be able to join Shadow Raids and Max Battles remotely using Remote Raid Passes. Changes will be made throughout the month of May 2025, starting with the new Crown Clash: Taken Over event on May 13.
The Crown Clash: Taken Over event will be the first event in Pokémon GO to allow players to remotely access Shadow Raids with Remote Raid Passes. The ability will remain in effect after the event ends. On May 19, the Gigantamax Machamp Max Battle Day event will arrive, allowing players to join Max Battles with Remote Raid Passes and Max Particles for the first time. This will also remain in effect after the event ends, and players that participate in Max Battles in person will earn additional Premier Balls and XP.
Both Max Particle and Remote Raid limits will be increased, with the Max Particles limit increasing from 1,000 to 1,500 and daily Remote Raid limit increasing from five to 10. These maximum limits may increase even further during special events, including one event on May 24 where the Remote Raid limit is temporarily increased to 20.
Afterward, fans in Osaka, Japan will be the first to encounter Volcanion when Pokémon GO Fest 2025 begins at the Expo ’70 Commemorative Park on May 29 through June 1, 2025. Pokémon GO Fest 2025 heads to Liberty State Park in Jersey City, New Jersey on June 6 through June 8, followed by the Parc de Sceaux outside Paris, France on June 13 through 15.
Trainers who are unable to attend the in-person events can participate in the Pokémon GO Fest 2025: Global event from June 28 to June 29. Tickets are available at Niantic’s official ticketing website, and global tickets are available in the in-game shop.
