SEGA and Rovio announced 32-player battle royale game Sonic Rumble has been delayed from its original May 8 global launch date for Android, iOS, and PC via Steam worldwide. A new release date has not been announced.
The global launch has been delayed to ensure Sonic Rumble is the “high-quality, long-lasting” Sonic game that SEGA wants fans to enjoy. Currently, the development team is working on introducing the Rumble Ranking system, Crews, and unique Skills for each character.
Moreover, pre-registration for Sonic Rumble is live on Google Play, App Store, and Steam, and players can earn rewards at launch for reaching pre-registration goals. Players can earn 5,000 Rings, Happy sticker, Crystal Chao buddy, Garnet Knuckles skin, and Movie Sonic skin by meeting the pre-registration goals.

In Sonic Rumble, players will take control of toy figures to compete in thrilling 32-player battle royale challenges, racing against each other to collect the most rings and prove themselves to be the fastest in the toybox. With iconic characters from the Sonic the Hedgehog universe available for customization, players can create their own unique avatars and dive into the action-packed gameplay.
The latest release in the mainline series, Sonic X Shadow Generations, launched on October 25, 2024 for Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Steam and Epic Games Store. Final Weapon reviewed Sonic X Shadow Generations and gave the title a 4.5/5, stating that the game “delivers all the thrills you could hope for with almost none of the drawbacks.” Lastly, a Nintendo Switch 2 version of Sonic X Shadow Generations will launch on June 5.
