The Pokémon Company has announced a new expansion for Pokémon TCG Pocket, titled Celestial Guardians. The update, which features Solgaleo and Lunala, will release on April 30.
Other Pokémon from Pokémon Sun and Moon will also be present throughout the new event. There will be several new cards, including ones that depict the starters from the aforementioned games: Rowlet, Litten and Popplio. A new drop event will also be available starting on April 29 which will allow players to acquire new promo cards, including one featuring Rayquaza ex, through special missions.

The Pokémon Trading Card Game initially released in Japan in 1996, just a few months after the release of Pokémon Red, Blue, and Yellow. Over the years, the game has become just as beloved as the main Pokémon game series, inspiring a generation of card collectors and even getting its own web series last year. Nintendo also released the Game Boy version of the Pokémon Trading Card Game on the virtual console in 2023.
The next entry in the Pokémon franchise,Pokémon Legends: Z-A, will be available in late 2025. It will release for the Nintendo Switch 2 and original Nintendo Switch. The Nintendo Switch 2 version will feature improved frame rates and enhanced resolution.
As previously announced, the new game takes players back to the Kalos region, the setting of Pokémon X and Y from Nintendo 3DS. Specifically, the game is set inside Lumiose City, which undergoes a major redevelopment plan by the large corporation Quasartico Inc. At the center of the city is its major symbol, Prism Tower. When night falls, Pokémon Legends: Z-A players may battle other Pokémon Trainers in Lumiose City’s Z-A Royale.
