This morning, Nintendo has announced that pre-orders for Nintendo Switch 2 in North America will open on April 24 in the United States. This follows the delay announced earlier this month as a response to “evolving market conditions.” While many expected Nintendo to increase the price of Switch 2, the price for the console has remain as announced: $449.99 for the standard console and $499.99 for the Mario Kart World bundle.
Update: Pre-orders for Nintendo Switch 2 at Walmart and Target will open on April 24 at 12:00 a.m. EDT. Any pre-orders made before 8:00 a.m. local time on June 4 at Walmart are eligible for free delivery by 9:00 a.m. local time on June 5.
Additionally, it was confirmed that pricing for Mario Kart World ($79.99) and Donkey Kong Bananza ($69.99) will remain unchanged at launch. However, Nintendo has increased the pricing of accessories across the board, with many raised by $5. This is seen with a Joy-Con 2 Pair priced at $94.99, or the Nintendo Switch 2 Pro Controller for $84.99.
Nintendo Switch 2 will release on June 5, 2025. Mario Kart World will release alongside the system. The console will be available to purchase for $449.99 at launch in the United States, as confirmed by Nintendo.
Nintendo Switch 2 is the successor to the Nintendo Switch, which originally launched on March 3, 2017. The system is set to offer a wide variety of features, including backwards compatibility support for Nintendo Switch games. In recent months, Nintendo has begun making preparations for this next-generation system. This includes ending the Gold Points system, as well as stating that Nintendo Switch Game Vouchers cannot be used for Nintendo Switch 2 games.
We’ll be sure to keep you updated on Nintendo Switch 2 pre-orders as they open next week.
