Sony Interactive Entertainment has announced that the company will be raising prices of the standard, almost five-year-old PlayStation 5 console in Europe, Australia, and New Zealand. At this time, there will not be adjustments made to the price of PlayStation 5 Pro in these regions. The United States and other regions not listed above remain unaffected.
“With a backdrop of a challenging economic environment, including high inflation and fluctuating exchange rates, SIE has made the tough decision to raise the recommended retail price (RRP) of the PlayStation 5 console in select markets in Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA), Australia and New Zealand.”
The company revealed that while it is raising the price of PS5 consoles, it is slightly lowering the price of the standalone disc drive. This is a requirement to play physical PS5 or PS4 games on any of the digital PlayStation 5 consoles.
Later this year, PlayStation is set to launch both Death Stranding 2: On The Beach and Ghost of Yōtei. PlayStation 5 and PlayStation 5 Pro are available now.
