The Last of Us Season 3 Officially Confirmed

Season 2 will premiere on April 13.

    Published:

Naughty Dog has announced that season 3 of The Last of Us TV show is in development. Season 2 of the series will premiere on April 13 on HBO and Max.

It is unknown what the story of season 3 will be, since there isn’t a third game in The Last of Us franchise. Previous remarks from the showrunners hint that multiple seasons may be in development and that the story of The Last of Us Part II may be adapted across multiple seasons.

The cast of season 2 of The Last of Us includes returning cast members such as Pedro Pascal as Joel, Bella Ramsey as Ellie, and Gabriel Luna as Tommy. It also includes several new cast members, including Kaitlyn Dever as Abby, Isabela Merced as Dina, Jeffrey Wright as Isaac, and Young Mazino as Jesse.

In a recent interview with Variety, the producer of The Last of Us franchise, Neil Druckmann, hinted at the series’ end. When asked about the possibility of The Last of Us Part III, Druckmann stated, “I was waiting for this question. I guess the only thing I would say is don’t bet on there being more of Last of Us. This could be it.”

In the past, he has stated that he has a concept for “one more chapter” to the franchise, which would likely be The Last of Us Part III. However, it’s unlikely to come anytime soon, due to development of Naughty Dog’s next game, Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet.

The first season of The Last of Us TV show is available now on Max. The series’ second season will air on April 13.
