Nintendo confirmed that Nintendo Switch 2 Welcome Tour will cost $9.99 digitally at launch, and Nintendo of America Vice President of Product and Player Experience Bill Trinen explained why its not a pack-in title with the Nintendo Switch 2.
According to Trinen, Nintendo decided to price Nintendo Switch 2 Welcome Tour at $9.99 due to the “amount of care and work” that the team put into it. Rather than being a introduction to the system itself, Nintendo Switch 2 Welcome Tour can be purchased by players wanting an in-depth introduction to the system’s tech and specifications.
Trinen told IGN the following, “For some people, I think there are people who are particularly interested in the tech and the specs of the system and things like that, for them I think it’s going to be a great product. It’s really for people that want more information about the system rather than necessarily a quick intro to everything it does.
“And for that reason and just the amount of care and work that the team put into it, I think it was decided that, ‘Yeah, this feels like $9.99 is not an exorbitant price. It feels like a good value for what you’re getting out of the product.”
Lastly, Nintendo Switch 2 will launch on June 5 for $449.99, and a bundle featuring Mario Kart World will be available for $499.99. Pre-orders were initially set to go live on April 9, but that date has been delayed as Nintendo evaluates the potential impacts of recent tariffs in the United States. It’s worth noting that pricing may not be finalized yet as well.
