Nintendo announced Nintendo Switch 2 Edition versions of The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild and The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom will launch on June 5 with the new console. On Nintendo Switch 2, The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild and The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom will support 4K resolution, HDR, and 60 FPS.
The Nintendo Switch App (previously known as the Nintendo Switch Online App) will also receive a new service called ZELDA NOTES. This game-specific service is exclusive to the Nintendo Switch 2 Editions of the games and helps players navigate to various locations, like that difficult-to-find shrine or hidden Korok, and will even feature commentary from Princess Zelda herself that was not part of the original games.
Nintendo also announced Nintendo Switch 2 Welcome Tour, a digital paid title that will be available on Nintendo Switch 2 at launch. Nintendo Switch 2 Welcome Tour features tech demos and other interactive experiences to introduce players to the features of the new console.
Moreover, Nintendo confirmed it will host a Nintendo Treehouse: Live event dedicated to the Switch 2 on April 3 and 4. It will be held at 7:00 a.m. PT / 10:00 a.m. ET and will feature hands-on gameplay of several Nintendo Switch 2 games.
Recently, Nintendo aired a Direct focused entirely on games for the original Nintendo Switch. The Direct featured new footage for Metroid Prime 4: Beyond and also had announcements for games in 2026, such as Tomodachi Life: Living the Dream and Rhythm Heaven: Groove. These games will also be available for the Nintendo Switch 2.
