In the new Nintendo Today! app, Nintendo announced the new live-action The Legend of Zelda movie will premiere on March 26, 2027. Moreover, the next entry in the Super Mario Bros. Movie franchise will release in April 24, 2026, just one year prior.
Wes Ball directs the upcoming The Legend of Zelda live-action movie. In the past, Ball directed The Maze Runner franchise and Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes. The movie is produced by Arad Productions, known for its work on Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse, Kraven the Hunter, Spider-Man: Homecoming, Uncharted, and the upcoming Metal Gear Solid film. Nintendo is co-financing the film with Sony Pictures Entertainment.
The new Nintendo Today! app delivers news and updates directly from Nintendo to smart devices. The app also acts like a daily calendar, and fans can enjoy comics for fan-favorite Nintendo games and characters from select franchises. Anyone with a Nintendo Account and compatible smart device can use the free app from the App Store and Google Play, starting today. After the April 2 Nintendo Direct, players can expect more information about Nintendo Switch on the app.
Nintendo also recently revealed the Virtual Game Card feature, which lets players manage purchased digital Nintendo Switch and Nintendo Switch 2 games, allowing players to lend or borrow games with each other on different systems. Users can “eject” the purchased digital title from one console and “load” it onto another. This is possible for users on the same Nintendo Account family group or a second system tied to the account.
