During its latest financial earnings report, CD Projekt revealed that the company entered a partnership with mobile game developer Scopely to develop a game based on a CD Projekt Red IP. It’s unclear which CD Projekt Red IP Scopely is currently working with, but The Witcher can be a safe bet.
The CD Projekt financial earnings report reiterated that CD Projekt Red is developing The Witcher IV at The Game Awards 2024. Taking place after The Witcher III: Wild Hunt, this is a new single-player open-world RPG starring Ciri. This will mark a new saga for the franchise, and it is developed in Unreal Engine 5. Platforms and a release date has not been announced, however.
Project Sirius, The Witcher spin-off, is still in pre-production, and CD Projekt confirms that developer The Molasses Flood has been merged into CD Projekt Red to ensure “even better alignment in the scope and direction of the project.” The remake of The Witcher 1 is still in the concept phase, and the studio will “temporarily integrate its development” with The Witcher 4. As a result, developer Fool’s Theory is supporting development of the remake.
The upcoming Cyberpunk 2077 sequel, known as Project Orion, is nearing the end of its concept phase and will enter pre-production soon. Development of Project Hadar is still ongoing, and there are also undisclosed projects in the worlds. One of these projects includes a project from Fool’s Theory. As previously announced, a new Netflix Cyberpunk 2077 animation is in development too.
On March 13, Scopely announced the company’s acquisition of games business under Niantic, including Pokémon GO, Pikmin Bloom, Monster Hunter Now, and the respective development teams for $3.5 billion.
