Following the release of Patch 7.2 of Final Fantasy XIV, Square Enix has announced that as of 3:58 a.m. (PDT), a DDoS attack is currently affecting the North America and European servers, causing network issues.
Players who attempt to interact with any of the four logical North American data centers (Aether, Crystal, Primal, Dynamis) and the European data centers (Chaos and Light) might experience severe lag, or in some cases, connection errors that will kick them out of the game. Since today is also the release date of a new patch, this also means the servers are currently crowded with players, meaning the login queue is also increased.
According to the official notice posted to the Lodestone page, Square Enix stated that they will be investigating the attack and taking countermeasures, and that additional information will be provided as the situation develops.

- New Field Operations (7.25) – Occult Crescent: In the treacherous waters of Shades’ Triangle lies the Occult Crescent, an isle shrouded in mystery. Should you wish to unveil its secrets, you must explore the unmapped terrain, and battle against the isle’s inhabitants
