Ikumi Hasegawa stars as Aya Mitsuki, an ordinary girl who got into Kuromi Girls’ Academy with a scholarship. Aya has been playing fighting games since elementary school. Hasegawa is joined by Kana Ichinose as Mio Yorue, a Kuromi Girls’ Academy student with the nickname Shirayuri-sama (white lily). Beneath her beauty and gracefulness, Mio is a diehard gamer, and she’s not good at studying.

Ejima launched the Young Ladies Don’t Play Fighting Games manga in Kadokawa’s Monthly Comic Flapper magazine in January 2020. The eight compiled book valume released on October 22, 2024, followed by the release of the seventh volume in English on December 17. The anime was first announced in 2021.

Lastly, here’s an overview of the manga series, via Seven Seas:

An over-the-top comedy manga about delicate young ladies indulging in hardcore gaming–inspired a live-action series and an anime!

Kuromi Girls’ Academy is a refined, elegant school that expects the very best in deportment from its young ladies. Aya got into this peerless rich-girls’ institution on a scholarship, and hopes to grow as lovely as her fellow student and idol Shirayui. But Shirayui hides a terrible secret: she’s a trash-talking, combo-chaining, newbie-stomping, ruthless hardcore gamer! Could a mutual indulgence in no-holds-barred video game combat grow into a deeper rapport between these two girls?
