Pixelity Inc. has announced a Neon Genesis Evangelion XR game. The expanded reality game is planned as a trilogy and will adapt the original anime in its entirety.
The platforms that the game will be available on are currently unknown. However, Pixelity has confirmed that players will take control of an original character in the world of Evangelion. They’ll be able to take on quests, thrilling battles, interactive gameplay with beloved characters from the series, and follow key events from the original series. The first installment of the trilogy will release in 2026.
Viz Media describes the original Neon Genesis Evangelion manga as follows:
In 2015, the “Angels” have returned, and Shinji Ikari, a fourteen year-old child of the new Earth, is forced by his father Gendo–commander of the secret organization NERV–to pilot the monstrous biomechanical weapon called “Evangelion” to match the Angels’ fearsome power…
Eva Vol. 1 contains a Japanese sound FX glossary plus a commentary by series mecha designer Ikuto Yamashita and the famous “confession letter” written by director Hideaki Anno in the months before the original TV premiere of Evangelion.
Recently, Level Infinite announced that Goddess of Victory: NIKKE will collaborate once again with Evangelion. The collaboration will include several new characters.
The initial collaboration released on August 22 and included Asuka Shikinami Langley, Rei Ayanami, and Mari Makinami Illustrious. The next collaboration will include Asuka from the Evangelion films, Rei Ayanami, which according to Level Infinite is a tentative name, and Sakura (Toji’s sister). The characters from the first collab will also return.
Lastly, the first part of the upcoming Neon Genesis Evangelion XR trilogy will release in 2026.
