Silent Hill 2 initially released for the PlayStation 2 in 2001. The remake developed by Konami and Bloober Team was released on October 8, 2024 for PlayStation 5 and PC via Steam. Silent Hill 2 features third-person action similar to the likes of the recent Resident Evil games. Despite this, Silent Hill 2 received high critical acclaim, and it’s one of the highest rated games of the year on Metacritic at 86. Check out Final Weapon’s review of Silent Hill 2 here.
Fans can also look forward to the release of Silent Hill f, which was first announced on October 19, 2022. The game features a completely new story set in 1960’s Japan. Silent Hill 2 producer Motoi Okamoto is leading the new project alongside Ryukishi07. A release date and platforms were not announced, however.
Following the resignation of its staff, Annapurna Interactive confirmed that development of Silent Hill Townfall is still going. The game is being co-developed by Annapurna Interactive, Konami, and No Code. Little else is known about Silent Hill Townfall, due to a lack of updates following the game’s reveal at Silent Hill Transmission on October 19, 2022.
