The Kingdom Hearts series has exceeded 37 million copies sold as of June 30, 2024, according to Square Enix’s 2024 report. The updated sales include physical shipments worldwide and digital sales. More than one million copies were sold between March 31, 2022 (the previous sales update) and June 30, 2024.
Square Enix did not elaborate further on the updated sales, but it’s likely that the Kingdom Hearts series debut on Steam on June 13, 2024 played a role in the sales uptick. At that time, Kingdom Hearts HD 1.5 + 2.5 Remix, Kingdom Hearts HD 2.8 Final Chapter Prologue, and Kingdom Hearts 3 + ReMind were all made available on Steam for the very first time.
Kingdom Hearts Missing-Link was revealed alongside the highly-anticipated Kingdom Hearts IV during the 20th anniversary event in April 2022. Both games are still in development, with Kingdom Hearts Missing-Link receiving a delay back in November 2024. A release date for both Kingdom Hearts Missing-Link and Kingdom Hearts IV was not announced.
Kingdom Hearts IV marks the beginning of the Lost Master arc, which is the “second phase” of the Kingdom Hearts series. Sora will explore the mysterious city of Quadratum, located in a separate universe regarded as “fiction” to the Kingdom Hearts universe.
On December 26, Gangan Online published the final chapter of Shiro Amano and Square Enix’s Kingdom Hearts III manga adaptation. 40 chapters were released for the Kingdom Hearts III manga in total following its launch in April 2019. The fourth and final volume will ship on March 12, 2025 in Japan.
