In the press release, The Pokémon Company stated the following about the trade feature and new expansion coming to Pokémon TCG Pocket:
“The new trade feature will allow players to trade their digital Pokémon cards with friends, broadening ways to grow their Pokémon Trading Card Game Pocket card collections. Upon release of the feature, players will be able to trade cards from the Genetic Apex and Mythical Island expansion, with plans in place to expand the lineup of tradeable cards in the future.
Featuring the Legendary Pokémon Dialga and Palkia, Space-Time Smackdown invites players to discover Pokémon from the Sinnoh region. In the expansion, players can expect unique card illustrations featuring fan-favorite Pokémon, including Turtwig, Chimchar, Piplup, and Lucario.”
The Pokémon Trading Card Game initially released in Japan in 1996, just a few months after the release of Pokémon Red, Blue, and Yellow. Over the years, the game has become just as beloved as the main Pokémon game series, inspiring a generation of card collectors and even getting its own web series last year. Nintendo also released the Game Boy version of the Pokémon Trading Card Game on the virtual console in 2023.
Pokémon TCG Pocket is available now on iOS and Android.
