Capcom announced that Resident Evil 4 has officially surpassed nine million copies sold worldwide. This comes just after the last sales update in October 2024, where the game was at eight million copies sold. Officially, this is the fastest-selling Resident Evil game of all time, according to Alex Aniel.
To celebrate, Capcom released new Resident Evil 4 artwork on its official developer Twitter account:

This title is a remake of the hit 2005 title, often praised as one of the greatest action games ever created. Resident Evil 4 was at 6.48 million copies sold as of January 31, and the increase in sales since then is attributed to discounts and the release of the Gold Edition. These sales also account for Resident Evil 4 on Apple devices.
We reviewed the game last year after its release and gave it a 5/5, stating, “Resident Evil 4 reimagines and reanimates the 2005 classic with exceptional gameplay updates and lifelike visuals. The thrilling narrative and meticulously crafted environment have made RE4 a game I just can’t stop playing. With such high attention to detail, Capcom has crafted a prodigious experience so immersive that it stands gallantly as one of the greatest video game experiences offered in the industry today.”
As of now, the next Resident Evil title has yet to be announced. Many fans speculate that Resident Evil 9 is up next, but there is a possibility that a remake of Resident Evil 5 could come as well.
Resident Evil 4 is available now for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, Mac, iPhone, iPad, and PC via Steam. For more on Resident Evil and Capcom, be sure to keep it right here at Final Weapon.
