BitSummit the 13th Event Set for July 2025 in Kyoto

Developer submissions now open until April 2025.

The Japan Independent Gaming Association (JIGA) has just announced the next iteration of BitSummit. The BitSummit the 13th event will be taking place at the Kyoto Municipal Industrial Promotion Hall (Miyako Messe) from July 18 to July 20, 2025. Developers who are interested in showcasing their titles at the event can do so starting today until April 1st, 2025.

In case you’re unaware, BitSummit is one of the largest annual indie gaming events in Japan. The very first BitSummit was held in 2013 as a small-scale event, but the event has grown tremendously in the decade that followed. BitSummit Let’s Go celebrated the event’s 11th anniversary, and on the following year, BitSummit Drift celebrated its 12th anniversary as games “raced” into Kyoto in 2024.

For the thirteenth iteration of the event, the theme is called “Summer of Yokai”, and invites attendees to explore the supernatural world of Japanese folklore while celebrating indie games from around the globe. According to the association, the Miyako Messe will “become a gateway to a world where indie game innovation and the enchanting spirit of yokai collide, providing an unparalleled opportunity to illuminate their creations and connect with key players in the industry.”

The association then continues, “Like a yokai emerging from the shadows, groundbreaking indie games will take center stage, captivating players and professionals alike. Whether you’re a developer seeking to forge new alliances or a media professional uncovering hidden gems, BitSummit promises an unforgettable journey through the vibrant landscape of indie gaming.”
