Arcane showrunner Christian Linke has revealed that three new shows set in the League of Legends universe are in development. The next series set to release has been in development for “about a year.” Additionally, the three new shows will be set in Noxus, Ionia, and Demacia, respectively.
While little information is known about the next series, it will likely take place in Noxus. Several characters in Arcane are either from the settings, or serve as references to one of League of Legends‘ most powerful empires. Only time will tell if Riot Games and Fortiche intend to focus on the likes of Draven, Darius, Samira, Akali, Jhin, Lux, Lucian, and more from the original game.
About Arcane and 2XKO
Netflix describes Arcane as follows:
From Riot Games, ARCANE returns this November on Netflix. The animated series, based on the League of Legends game, is created by Christian Linke and Alex Yee. Executive producers include Linke, Marc Merrill and Brandon Beck. The Animation Studio is Fortiche Animation. Voices include Hailee Steinfeld (Vi), Ella Purnell (Jinx) and Katie Leung (Caitlyn), Reed Shannon (Ekko), Amirah Vann (Sevika), Mick Wingert (Heimerdinger), and Ellen Thomas (Ambessa) among others to be announced.
Recently, Riot Games released a look at Jinx in 2XKO. The game features 2v2 combat where each player controls a pair of characters from the game. It introduces a simplified control scheme with three attack buttons and easy-to-execute special moves, similar to Granblue Fantasy Versus: Rising. The game tries to aim for accessibility while maintaining depth for competitive play.
Additionally, the character roster includes familiar faces like Ahri, Darius, Ekko, and Yasuo. Riot Games will likely announced more in the future. Behind Project L are notable figures from the fighting game community, including Tom and Tony Cannon, founders of the EVO championship series and pioneers of the rollback netcode, GGPO. The entire Arcane series is available now on Netflix. This includes the final act of both Season 2 and the show itself.
