Bungie has released a developer update for their next game, Marathon. They initially announced the resurrection of their 90s IP in 2023. The game is described as a PvP extraction shooter similar to titles like Escape from Tarkov.
In the update, Joe Ziegler states a bit more about a premise for the upcoming release. Players will take control of Runners, cybernetic mercenaries, who navigate the dangerous world of Tau Ceti IV, attempt to recover loot, and try and survive to use their loot to upgrade themselves. He also confirms that the game is still in early development and that they are not ready to show gameplay yet.
However, they do show a look at two of the game’s runners. The first is Stealth, a stealth-oriented Runner who has the “tools to stalk the battlefield” and use deception to their advantage. Bungie also showed off another Runner named Thief. Check out the first concept art for Thief below:

Additionally, the game is available now to wishlist on PlayStation Store and Steam. The Steam page describes it as follows:
From the creators of Halo and Destiny…
A massive ghost ship hangs in low orbit over a lost colony on Tau Ceti IV. The 30,000 souls who call this place home have disappeared without a trace. Strange signals hint at mysterious artifacts, long-dormant AI, and troves of untold riches.
Become a Runner in Bungie’s upcoming sci-fi PvP extraction shooter, Marathon. You are a cybernetic mercenary venturing into the unknown in a fight for survival and fortune where any run can lead to greatness.
