SEGA released the Beat & Axel DLC for Super Monkey Ball Banana Rumble, alongside update 1.20. Each character has their own unique stats that will help them through the stages.
Axel from Crazy Taxi and Beat from Jet Set Radio are both playable in Adventure Mode and Battle Mode in Super Monkey Ball Banana Rumble. While playing as Axel, bananas will become coins. Bananas will switch to spray cans while playing as Beat as well.
Moreover, 15 different customization items are now available as well, featuring costumes for Shadow the Hedgehog, NiGHTS, Gilius Thunderhead, and Goro Majima. Character customization items aren’t available for SEGA Pass characters like Axel and Beat, however. The SEGA Pass is available for $24.99, and its included with the Digital Deluxe Edition, too.
Update 1.20 also introduces the new Gem Heist mode. Players must carry their gems to their team’s area while fending off members of the other team. Gems will have varying weight and point values. Players can expect another update in late 2024 with more content, as revealed in the 2024 content roadmap.
Moreover, the Super Monkey Ball series has surpassed five million copies sold worldwide. Super Monkey Ball Banana Rumble producer Nobuhiko Suzuki appears to be pleased that Super Monkey Ball has sold so many copies over the years. The series appears to resonate with many fans outside of Japan.
