In a new interview with Young Jump, Tetsuya Nomura revealed that there are likely only a few years left until he retires. He acknowledges that people ask him whether or not he plans to finish the Kingdom Hearts series before retiring. This was in response to a question about the plot of Kingdom Hearts concluding after 20 years.
Nomura says in an interview with Young Jump that he envisions Kingdom Hearts IV and Missing Link as new titles to the series rather than just sequels.

Nomura is currently 53 years old, having developed games since 1991. Over the course of his career, he has been directly responsible for projects, including the Kingdom Hearts series, the original scenario for Final Fantasy VII, and character design for dozens of titles. He has been a critical part of Square Enix’s success even today, with series like the Final Fantasy VII Remake project and Kingdom Hearts still ongoing.
Nomura mentions later in the same interview that KHIV moves the series towards that eventual conclusion. Kingdom Hearts IV was revealed in April 2022 at the Kingdom Hearts 20th Anniversary Event. As of now, no significant news has been released since.
