Dragon Ball Sparking ZERO will reportedly feature over 180 playable characters, according to the retail box art from a physical copy at EB Games. This means that Dragon Ball Sparking ZERO will feature the largest roster in Budokai Tenkaichi history, surpassing Budokai Tenkaichi 3’s total character count of 161.
Originally, fans thought Dragon Ball Sparking ZERO would have 164 playable characters on the roster, based on the infamous character screen that would be updated with each of the game’s trailers. However, the release of the game’s Dragon Ball GT trailer changed everything, as it confirmed that GT characters would not be DLC as many had surmised.
Shortly after the GT trailer’s release, leaks from Japanese media would reveal the total roster count is well over 164. The EB Games retail copy corroborates this, as Dragon Ball Sparking ZERO will indeed feature more than 180 characters and include what-if episodes, like Perfect Cell vs Beerus. The game will require 100 GB of minimum storage space as well.

It’s worth noting that Dragon Ball Sparking ZERO will receive 20+ playable characters from Dragon Ball Super: Super Hero and Dragon Ball Daima. The roster count will be well over 200 characters after these DLC releases and future updates.
