The Pokémon Company and Niantic announced Dynamax Pokémon will finally make their Pokémon GO debut on September 10. Max Battles will also be available in the game as an all-new feature.
Max Particles will now appear throughout the world in concentrated areas known as Power Spots. This energy allows Dynamax Pokémon to transform Pokémon GO, allowing players to participate in Max Battles at select Power Spots. Like other resources in Pokémon GO, there’s a limit to the amount of Max Particles you can carry at once.
Up to four Trainers may participate in Max Battles, similarly to Raid Battles. Only Dynamax Pokémon can be used in Max Battles, so players are encouraged to complete the new “To the Max!” Special Research to catch their first Dynamax Pokémon. After winning the Max Battle, players may place one of their Pokémon at that Power Spot to earn Candy and give fellow Trainers a damage boost. Rewards will be sent to Trainers after they return from the Power Spot.
Completing Max Battles is quite rewarding, as players can earn Rare Candy, XP, and Premier Balls from their victory. In addition, there’s a chance to encounter the Power Spot Boss and catch it, so players should be prepared to catch some Pokémon before entering the Max Battle.
There will also be new “Max Out” Special Research, which gives players Dynamax-themed avatar items for their Trainer. Moreover, the upcoming update will introduce a new piece of music inspired by Pokémon Sword and Shield, which was arranged by composer Junichi Masuda.
