Phantom Brave: The Lost Hero Details Confine Ability and Features

Confine and Confriend to become stronger in battle.

Nippon Ichi Software revealed new details about upcoming turn-based strategy RPG Phantom Brave: The Lost Hero, including the Confine ability and various in-game features.

Characters can move freely within a radius during battle, and friends and foes will take turns based on their Speed stat. Turn order is displayed the top right corner of the screen. Marona’s power allows allied Phantoms to possess (Confine) objects on the map to participate in battle and change their stats. For example, being Confined to a rock will increase the character’s defensive stats and decreases their speed. It should be noted that  Confinement ends in a few turns, and the character will be withdrawn from battle and cannot be Confined again in the same battle.

Marona may use a special version of Confine in Phantom Brave: The Lost Hero, known as Confriend. The Confriend ability allows an allied Phantom she has a close bond with to possess her and greatly increase her stats. She also gains special skills, and her overall appearance will also change, according to NIS America

If certain conditions are met when Marona uses Confriend, it will activate multi-turn ability “Again,” which lets her take additional turns and gain stat boosts. The deeper the bond, the more Agains she will activate in succession. The Confine ability continues to be useful, as it can unlock new actions and make use of different gadgets in battle.

The hideout on Skullrock Island contains various features, including character creation, that helps players prepare for battles and challenges. The “Awakening” feature allows for easier character enhancement, and the Juice Bar lets players transfer EXP to the character of their choice.

Phantom Brave: The Lost Hero launches in 2025 for Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, and PlayStation 5. The PC (Steam) version will launch after the console versions.
