Fate/stay night Remastered Is the Best-Selling Game on Steam in the US

    An impressive start.

Fate/stay night Remastered launched today on Steam, and it’s already hit #1 in the best-selling games list for the United States. Additionally, it sits at #2 globally, just behind Black Myth: Wukong, due out in a few weeks. It’s no doubt an impressive start for the visual novel, which is now available in English for the first time after two decades.

Unfortunately, the English version of the game on Steam has significant issues. While the localization is good (from our first impressions), the game has mixed and matched the sprites for certain scenes, making for a wacky experience. Type-Moon and Aniplex will likely work to patch the issue as soon as possible.

This remaster is of Fate/stay night Réalta Nua, which is a release based on the PlayStation 2 version of the game. In this version, adult content was removed, and the three separate routes were split between three separate episodes instead of one main title.

This release marks the third major Type-Moon title to make its way to the West. Type-Moon first began this initiative with Witch on the Holy Night, which released in December 2022 for PS4 and Switch simultaneously in Japan and in the West. The latest release, 2021’s Tsukihime -A piece of blue glass moon-, was finally released in English for the first time across Nintendo Switch and PlayStation 4 in June. Fate/Stay Night Remastered is now available on Nintendo Switch and PC via Steam. Neither a PlayStation or physical version of the title has been confirmed at this time.
