Today at Otakon 2024, a major Final Fantasy VII Rebirth panel was held involving Director Naoki Hamaguchi, Producer Yoshinori Kitase, and Battle Director Teruki Endo. One of the questions involved the Piano minigame, to which the developers revealed they were inspired by The Last of Us Part II and its Guitar minigame. In that title, you can play each chord on the guitar and recreate songs. The same was made available in FFVII Rebirth with the Piano minigame, as you can play every key on the piano.
Additionally, Naoki Hamaguchi asked the audience if they would like to see more of the Piano minigame in the third title, to which everyone cheered. He shared that the team will work hard to implement it once again.
Speaking of music, the Final Fantasy VII Rebirth Orchestra World Tour will kick off in Los Angeles next week. It will be followed by the release of new music albums, including an Orchestral Arrangement Album.
Earlier this year, Square Enix revealed that the company is set to “aggressively pursue a multi-platform strategy that includes Nintendo platforms, PlayStation, Xbox, and PCs.” It seems like Final Fantasy VII Rebirth could be making the jump to new platforms later this year. This would allow millions of new players to experience the title, with PC players eagerly awaiting the second chapter of the Final Fantasy VII remake project.
Final Fantasy VII Rebirth is available now for PlayStation 5, with future platforms possible now that the exclusivity period over.
