At TennoCon 2024, Digital Extremes revealed that the next chapter of Warframe, Warframe: 1999, will launch in winter 2024. A new quest, titled The Lotus Eaters, will give fans a prologue that serves as a sneak peek of what’s to come.
In Warframe: 1999, players travel back to the 20th century to discover a grungy world filled with secrets. A cast of six different Protoframes head to this era to track down Dr. Entrati before 2000 hits on New Year’s Eve. To fit the timeframe, the expansion will feature music by in-universe 90’s boy band On-lyne. Their new single “PARTY OF YOUR LIFETIME” releases on July 21 on Spotify, Apple Music, YouTube Music, and Amazon Music.
The party of six Protoframes are voiced by a star-studded cast, including Amelia Tyler (Baldur’s Gate 3), Kevin Afghani (Super Mario Bros. Wonder), Melissa Medina (Final Fantasy XIV: Dawntrail), Trieve Blackwood-Cambridge (Forza Horizon 5), Alpha Takahashi (Cyberpunk 2077), and Ben Starr (Final Fantasy XVI).
Warframe: 1999 also introduces CYTE-09, a lone fortune hunter that lends his marksman skills to Arthur’s team. This new playable Warframe will bring his skills from 1999 to the present. Players can also mount the Atomicyle, wield new weapons, and access new Gemini Skins.
In August, the Lotus Eaters Prologue Quest will prepare fans for Warframe: 1999. A new update will also bring the Sevagoth Prime, an enhanced form of the dark helmsman in signature gold trim and complete with exclusive weapons and accessories. Fans may also look forward to an animated short by THE LINE this year.
