HoYoverse announced Genshin Impact Version 4.8 “Summertide Scales and Tales” will arrive on July 17, featuring the new Simulanka summer map. Players can also expect new stories, seasonal events, and new outfits for characters like Nilou and Kirara.
Genshin Impact Version 4.8 will introduce Simulanka, a unique world featuring distinct lands populated by origami creatures, clockwork figures, and other fantastical beings. The Traveler, Kirara, Nilou Navia, and the Wanderer will set out on a journey together to explore Simulanka and resolve a crisis involving this magical world.
Seasonal events will be held in Simulanka for a limited time, including mini-games and bonuses. By completing the new mini-games, players will obtain Starsail Coins, which can be used to draw for figurines with diverse gestures. These figures can be displayed on “Good Shelves” scattered throughout Simulanka. Players may acquire their own “Good Shelves” as a Furnishing reward for completing all main stories in Simulanka.
5-star Dendro polearm user Emilie will make her debut with Version 4.8 as well. She has unique abilities that allow her to deal more damage to Burning enemies. Emilie’s debut and Yelan’s rerun will appear in the second phase of the Version 4.8 Event Wishes. Reruns of Navia and Nilou will be available in the first phase. Kirara and Nilou will also receive new outfits.

Version 4.8 will make various optimizations to the game’s Encounter Point System, making it more convenient for players. Long-Term Encounter Points may be converted to Daily Encounter Points, allowing players to earn more rewards. Moreover, the cooldown for World Bosses that cost 40 Original Resin will be drastically decreased from five minutes to just 10 seconds.
The new “Echo” feature will also be available in Version 4.8. Echo leaves a unique trailing effect for characters while sprinting. Players will be able to obtain Echoes for Diluc, Qiqi, Kirara, Jean and Ningguang by completing the “Envisaged Echoes” challenges in the Imaginarium Theater lobby. To access these challenges, players must obtain and use special keys, which are acquired by completing Act 6 of the Imaginarium Theater.
Lastly, another teaser trailer for the Natlan region was released on YouTube. Natlan will be introduced in Genshin Impact Version 5.0.
Genshin Impact is available now for Android, iOS, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, and PC via Windows and Epic Games Store. A Nintendo Switch version is currently in development, but a release date has not been announced yet.
