Capcom has announced that the original Resident Evil trilogy will be coming to the GOG store. The first Resident Evil is available today.
The original Resident Evil released in 1996 on the PlayStation 1. In 1998, Capcom released Resident Evil 2, and in 1999, they released Resident Evil 3: Nemesis. Over the past few years, they’ve released remakes of all of the games mentioned above, as well as a Resident Evil 4 remake. The most recent new entry in the series, Resident Evil Village, is available now on all consoles, including Apple devices.
Resident Evil Original Trilogy Releasing on GOG, Resident Evil 1 Available Now on the Store
Capcom has released the first Resident Evil on the GOG store. Additionally, they also announced that they are releasing the entire original trilogy, including Resident Evil 2 and Resident Evil 3: Remake, on the store. At the time of writing, the release date for 2 and 3 are unknown. However, both will release in 2024. GOG describes the first Resident Evil as follows:
Your Special Tactics and Rescue Squad has been choppered to a remote mansion to investigate a biotechnical experiment gone hideously wrong. Before you can say “mass murder,” you’re plunged straight into a deathtrap writhing with man-eating freaks, swarming crows and rabid dogs.
Arm yourself with knives and flame-throwers scavenged from dead teammates. Solve puzzles, disarm traps and unearth mysteries. But beware: every move you make draws you deeper into the deadly embrace of Resident Evil.
Resident Evil is available now on GOG. Resident Evil 2 and 3 will be available on the store later this year.
