Fantasian Neo Dimension Arrives on Consoles & PC Later This Holiday

During today’s Nintendo Direct, Mistwalker Corporation announced Fantasian Neo Dimension, an expanded and enhanced release of FANTASIAN. Originally released in 2021, FANTASIAN was originally exclusive to Apple Arcade. The game will be published by Square Enix, with the game available across Nintendo Switch, PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X|S and PC via Steam.

Some of the new features revealed for this release so far include a new difficulty option and added English and Japanese voiceovers. Take a look at the new trailer below:

After the announcement, Square Enix has launched an official X account for Fantasian, with a new message from Hironobu Sakaguchi. You can read it below:

“FANTASIAN NEO DIMENSION has had its grand reveal, marking its comeback at SQUARE ENIX.

The strength of a digital title is that it can continue existing without deteriorating, and I wanted FANTASIAN to be an especially long-standing title.

I developed FANTASIAN thinking that it could become my final work before retiring, so it has a special place in my heart.

Having the opportunity to rebuild it at SQUARE ENIX this way and making it widely known is truly a blessing.

This title is an amalgamation of the souls of the diorama craftsmen, Uematsu compositions, and of course, the game developers. If you’d like, please do give it a try!”

Sakaguchi also shared on his Twitter that he is working with Yoshi-P on this title. It’s likely Creative Studio 3 (formerly Creative Business Unit III) is either working on or assisting with this release. An overview of the game is available below via Apple Arcade:

Fantasian by Mistwalker Corp. — From the creator of Final Fantasy, comes the next breathtaking adventure from industry legend Hironobu Sakaguchi. Fantasian is an exciting, new RPG set against a spectacular backdrop made from nearly 160 handmade dioramas that blends physical environments and 3D characters.

    ● Dive into the Dioramas

Explore the nearly 160 different hand-crafted dioramas in Fantasian, with particular attention to detail. The adventure lasts between 60~90 hours with the first part more focused on story and the latter half more quest-driven, giving players the freedom to explore the world.

    ● New Battle Mechanics

Tapping into his experience from the Final Fantasy franchise, Sakaguchi brings to Fantasian several quality of life improvements to the classic JRPG genre, such as the “Dimengeon Battle” mechanic, which allows players to send previously encountered enemies into a separate dimensional dungeon to streamline combat and maximize uninterrupted exploration of the beautiful locations.

“Dimengeon Battles” introduce various “Gimmicks” or power-ups that can turn the tide of battle for a satisfying encounter.

Likewise, the Growth Map gives players various customization options and party members can be swapped in and out for even more diverse strategic options.

    ● Legendary Soundtrack

Celebrated composer Nobuo Uematsu, known for his work on the Final Fantasy series, scored all 60 tracks. The many layers of a full orchestra and diverse synth melodies compliment the memorable and magical world of Fantasian.
