Octopath Traveler II Reportedly Releasing for Xbox / Game Pass Later This Month

A surprise June release from Square.

According to eXputerOctopath Traveler II is set to release on Xbox Series X|S later this month. An exact date was not confirmed, but we can expect this announcement to show up potentially as soon as the Xbox Games Showcase, set for this Sunday, June 9.

Octopath Traveler II was one of the best RPGs of 2023, offering eight unique stories that intertwine into one narrative. The HD-2D art style utilized by Team Asano is praised by many, and we’re looking forward to Xbox players trying this one out.

This release was first announced at Xbox’s Tokyo Game Show presentation last year. At the time, it was confirmed that Octopath Traveler II would release on Xbox Series X|S and Windows devices sometime in Early 2024. We have not had any update since, so it seems likely we will indeed be getting an update, potentially even a shadow drop, later this weekend. We expect that the release date for PC devices will be the same as the Xbox release, though we’ll need to wait for official confirmation from Square Enix.

This report also makes note that the game will be available day one on Xbox Game Pass, with the first Octopath Traveler likely coming to Game Pass as well. It’s unclear if this will include PC Game Pass, but since the game is coming to PC it does seem plausible.
