Microsoft and Activision have confirmed that Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 will arrive on Xbox Game Pass at launch. This is a major decision from Microsoft that many have debated over the past few months. Black Ops 6 was officially revealed last week, with a Direct in June set to take a major look at the upcoming title.
On Xbox Wire this morning, the Xbox team simply said the following: “We’re excited to confirm that Game Pass members will be able to jump into Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 on day one with Game Pass.” Alongside this announcement, a new trailer premiered for the title. Check it out below:
For Microsoft, this is a milestone decision that we will see the effects of for years to come. Call of Duty brings in over $1B in revenue each year, so offering the premium $70 title on a subscription that costs $9.99 a month is a massive economic move. Microsoft is expected to increase the Game Pass price and offer a ‘premium’ tier before the launch of Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 to offset potential losses.
As previously mentioned, Xbox is set to host the Black Ops 6 Direct on June 9, where the first look at the game will be revealed in full. This presentation immediately follows the Xbox Games Showcase 2024.
Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 is expected to release later this year on Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC. A Nintendo Switch release is not expected at this time, though Microsoft may release the game on the Switch successor in 2025.
