Bandai Namco announced that mobile RPG Tales of the Rays will be shutting down on July 23 in Japan. The game will end service just over seven years after it originally launched.
Tales of the Rays first launched on February 28, 2017 in Japan and went on to receive a plethora of major updates. The global version of Tales of the Rays shut down more than five years ago on May 29, 2018. The game’s “Recollection” arc began on April 10, 2023, but the story is coming to an end just over a year later.
Tales of the Rays Shutting Down After Seven Years of Service
In a new blog post, Bandai Namco confirmed Tales of the Rays will shut down on July 23, and in-app purchases for paid currency have been immediately disabled. Sales for full voice packs will end on June 20, just one month before the game’s shutdown.

In addition, an offline version will be released featuring the main scenario logs, battles, the encyclopedia, and more. More details about the offline version will be released in a video on the official Tales of Japanese YouTube channel on May 30.
Leading up to July 23, various re-run events will be held in the game, allowing players to catch up on events they may have missed. However, it appears like collaboration events, including the Xenosaga collaboration, will not receive a re-run during the game’s last three months of service.
