Major fighting game tournament Combo Breaker 2024 announced that Akuma will be legal for the upcoming Street Fighter 6 bracket. The tournament organizers surveyed players a while back to determine whether they wanted the upcoming patch to be legal. Over 81% of players agreed to let the patch play out, so the tournament will let it run.
Additionally, Combo Breaker 2024 expressed their displeasure with the patch’s release date being on the same week of the tournament. Having said that, there will be a casual space the day before the tournament where players can learn Akuma and the patch. This space aims to allow players to get used to the patch before they enter the tournament. Players looking to participate in this practice must attend the Renaissance Schaumburg Convention Center on Thursday, May 23. From 12 PM (CST) to 1 AM (CST), players can experience the patch with others.
