Embark on a new journey in the Canon of Vengeance.

SEGA and ATLUS have revealed new details about Shin Megami Tensei V: Vengeance, including Bethel, Da’at Exploration, and new elements from the Canon of Vengeance. One of the new additions in the Canon of Vengeance is Nahobino’s brand-new form.

In Shin Megami Tensei V: Vengeance, players can explore a new Shinjuku area, which features more Miman and secrets to uncover. The Canon of Vengeance scenario will be roughly 80 hours long with several new characters, demons, quests, and features to enjoy as well. Nahobino will be able to make use of a brand-new form with a sickle-like blade.

Shin Megami Tensei V: Vengeance – Protagonist, Bethel, and More Characters

The Shin Megami Tensei V: Vengeance protagonist (VA:  Casey Mongillo) is a high school senior living in Tokyo that transforms into the Nahobino to fight demons. He will awaken into a new form in Canon of Vengeance.

Hayo Koshimizu (VA: Sean Crisden) is the Prime Minister of Japan and the head of the Bethel’s Japan Branch. He’s calculated and strategic in his actions. He recruits Ichiro and others to Bethel and gives them the Demon Summoning Program in order to fight against demons.

Abdiel (VA: Cissy Jones) is an archangel and commander of Bethel’s forces. She’s very strict on herself and others, often choosing to eliminate anyone who can threaten Bethel’s order. She is devoted to protecting and maintain God’s order and will.

Shohei Yakumo (VA: Ben Lepley) is a mysterious man who confronts the protagonist in Da’at. He calls himself the exterminator of demons, despite working with the demon Nuwa (VA: Laura Post). Nuwa is a goddess in Chinese mythology, working with Yakumo for unknown reasons since he was a child.

Mastema (VA: Doug Erholtz) is a mysterious archangel and a fellow member of Bethel. He says he received permission from God to test humanity’s faith and pursue the Qadištu.

    Da’at Exploration

Once more, players will explore the story of Shin Megami Tensei V: Vengeance in Tokyo and the parallel world of Da’at. Shinjuku ward will become explorable in the Canon of Vengeance, which is home to a large object that looks like a great tree.

Magatsuhi Crystals can be collected in Da’at. Green crystals recover HP, yellow crystals restore MP, and red crystal increase the Magatsuhi Gauge. Players may also activate a Magatsu Rail, which is a path formed of Magatsuhi that connects and allows for travel between two locations. It can allow players to reach hidden locations as well.

Large red obstacles known as Abscesses may block the protagonist’s path in Da’at. Powerful enemies will appear and attack the protagonist’s party. Defeating Abscesses unlocks the way forward and awakens new Miracles. Magatsuhi Demons may also appear with a menacing aura of Magatsuhi. These enemies are dangerous, but they yield valuable items if defeated.

Relics can be obtained from vending machines and given to Gustave (VA: David Errigo Jr.) at the Cadaver’s Hollow shop in exchange for Macca. Gustave will also reward players for finding Miman, which can also grant Glory and Miracles. Glory may also be obtained from silver objects in the world, while yellow objects award item and Macca.

    Demon Navigator

Demons may accompany the protagonist and support him while exploring Da’at. Demon Navigators can participate in combat, but they will search for items, Magatsu Rails, and other useful items. Once found, the Demon Navigator will notify the protagonist. Aogami’s Essences may also be found by examining husks scattered throughout Da’at. Essence may be obtained again after a certain amount of time has passed.

Demon Haunts may be visited by accessing the leyline founts. In Demon Haunts, the protagonist’s demons will appear and gather, allowing the player to directly interact with their allies. They can have conversations with demons, including Aogami, and the protagonist may also give them gifts and take photos. Special conversations may also occur, offering rewards such as items or status enhancements for demons.

World of Shadows and Demon Fusion

The World of Shadows may be accessed from the leyline founts. Its ruler, Sophia (VA: Erin Yvette), will help the protagonist fuse demons to create even stronger demons. A variety of demon fusion options are available, including Essence Fusion. Skill inheritance is another key component of demon fusion.
