During GDC 2024, Marvel and Skydance New Media officially showcased Marvel 1943: Rise of Hydra. The developers showed off a new trailer and confirmed that it will be developed in Unreal Engine 5.
In 2021, Skydance New Media, an at-the-time new company led by Amy Hennig (the director of Uncharted 1-3), announced their collaboration with Marvel. In 2022, they teased the game, revealing that it will feature four heroes: Captain America, Black Panther, an American Soldier, and a Wakandan spy. The new story trailer reveals more details about the upcoming game, alongside confirming the game’s cast.
Marvel 1943: Rise of Hydra Details Revealed in New Trailer
During the Game Developers Conference 2024, or GDC, Skydance New Media revealed a new trailer for Marvel 1943: Rise of Hydra. They released the trailer during an Epic Games conference focused on Unreal Engine. The upcoming game will feature Captain America, Black Panther, and more fan-favorite and original characters. The cast of the game is as follows:
- Khary Payton as Azzuri/Black Panther (T’Challa’s Grandfather)
- Drew Moerlein as Steve Rogers/Captain America
- Megalyn Echikunwoke as Nanali, a Wakandan Spy
- Marque Richardson as Gabriel Jones, A U.S. Soldier/Howling Commandos Member
- Lyne Renée as Julie, “a key ally in the French Resistance”
- Joel Johnstone as Howard Stark
Additionally, Grammy award-winning artist Stephen Barton (Star Wars Jedi: Survivor, Apex Legends, Titanfall, and more) will compose the game’s soundtrack. The game will also be developed entirely in Unreal Engine 5.4, creating a game that will undoubtedly look very impressive. Marvel Entertainment describes what fans can expect from the game on their website:
“With the game’s release in 2025, players can look forward to exhilarating gameplay inspired by Marvel’s landmark comics, films, and television series. Marvel 1943: Rise of Hydra captures the action, excitement, and globe-trotting adventure that has delighted fans for decades.”
Lastly, Marvel 1943: Rise of Hydra will launch in 2025. It is currently unknown which consoles it will be available on. Skydance New Media and Marvel Games will likely reveal more details about the upcoming game in the coming months.
